my allium

I think this is one of the coolest flowers. Last fall I found some allium bulbs at Costco and we planted them in our garden. I haven't seen these flowers anywhere around here so I was skeptical if they would actually bloom in Phoenix.

Spring had almost come and gone with no sign of them -- my daffodils and irises have already bloomed and gone. So I was overjoyed when these buds came up, and it has been truly thrilling to watch the blossoms unfolding. We have three purple and one white one that have bloomed. I can't stop taking pictures! Isn't this the coolest flower you've ever seen?

it reminds me of some sort of plant from Horton Hears a Who or some other Dr. Seuss marvel.

i love the allium! did you know that it is from the onion family? after approx a month or so it will loose it's color and dry up. don't worry, you can always spray paint it something wild. my sister spray painted hers stripes, polka dots, red-white-blue for 4th and 24th of july.
go crazy, let the girls show their creativity, they will love the empowering feeling and sense of pride that it gives them.
