We went to a Christmas party with my parent's ward, and the highlight for Attalie was, of course, meeting Santa Claus. Attalie has already sent a letter to Santa with a picture of the pink kitchen she wants him to bring for her, and she even received a reply in the mail that seems pretty promising (thanks to Aunt Heather for helping with Santa's letter... evidently she has some connections at the North Pole).
But still, Attalie was quite adamant about telling Santa in person all about this pink kitchen that she really, really wants... that is until she saw him up close. I could see the fear in her eyes, but she did really well controlling it, and this is the first year she has managed to actually sit on Santa's lap. Her first Christmas she screamed at the sight of the fat man with the long white beard. Last year she wouldn't go within three feet of him. This year, though, she sat on his lap and had an actual conversation, although she was a lot less animated than when she's talking to me or Heath.
We're trying to use the whole "Naughty and Nice" thing to our advantage, but it doesn't help much... she's still misbehaving! Obedience just isn't one of Attalie's strong suits.
Luckily for Attalie, we think Santa finds her too darn cute to say "No" to. We've got our fingers crossed that the coveted pink kitchen will buy us a few minutes of peace and quiet by distracting Attalie in her room, and if it does it will certainly be worth it. We're lucky Santa knew where to pick one up for a fraction of the cost (thank you Costco), since the pink kitchen Atty fell in love with at Pottery Barn Kids is almost as much as a mortgage payment!
